The Canberra Recovery Appeal

The Canberra Recovery Appeal is a collective fundraising drive launched by Hands Across Canberra and it’s network of charities to support vital community projects as they respond to exceptional challenges over the coming months. This funding aims to help them to take steps to provide the much needed essential support to the most vulnerable members of our community during this public health crisis.

Hands Across Canberra has launched the Canberra Recovery Appeal to help community organisations across the city and nearby region deal with the unprecedented effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The local community organisations that do such important and valuable work within our city are facing increasing difficulties with loss of income and vital volunteers; all this comes at a time when needs are rising and vulnerabilities are exacberated. Funding is needed in the community sector today to strengthen and stabilise local nonprofit community organisations responding to, and impacted by the public health crisis and supporting our cities vulnerable populations.

The Canberra Recovery Appeal was launched in support of the immediate and long-term needs of the most vulnerable among us during this crisis. Funds donated to this appeal, whether to our community partners directly or Hands Across Canberra, will provide funding to local nonprofit organisations that support vulnerable people in our community and who have been impacted due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Funds will support a range of activities like food banks, food delivery, health care, housing, mental health and COVID-19 prevention communications.

By supporting the Canberra Recovery Appeal, you will be helping many charities and community organisations through Hands Across Canberra (HAC). HAC is the nation capital’s community foundation that creates pathways and connections, joining those who have funds and time to donate with those who need the assistance.
