Financial security is the critical base that enables our most vulnerable to achieve self-sufficiency, increase the quality of life and build strong futures and Hands Across Canberra invests in programs that strengthen our community from the bottom up.

Hands Across Canberra helps to keep the wealth that is created locally within the local Canberra community.

We have created a variety of ways community organisations get supported.  Through our portal donations can go directly to charities.  Alternatively donations can be directed to the central Hands Across Canberra fund for allocation by grants.  In future donors will also be able to choose to donate to our investment corpus including through bequests.

In addition to creating an environment that encourages and facilitates philanthropy, Hands Across Canberra undertakes several fundraising events each year. These networking events, such as our annual charity luncheon, are created so donors can meet and share their experiences with charities and like-minded philanthropists so they may increase the impact of their giving.

The highlight of these events is the Hands Across Canberra Annual Lunch. This event has raised about $1,000,000 since the first lunch in November 2010.  Key speakers have included Dick Smith AC, Catherine Brown, Kathryn Greiner AO, Rupert Meyer AO and Harold Mitchell AC.
