Today, Hands Across Canberra in partnership with Master Builders ACT (MBA) and Village Building Co.a announced a new Charity House Project with the proceeds again being donated to Canberra’s most vulnerable people.
The Board of Hands Across Canberra are leaders in our community and their guidance, together with the incredible support – large and small – of many volunteers, businesses and donors are creating change locally.
Safe Shelter ACT's capacity was stretched during August, with 190 homeless men as guests over the 31 days. On many nights the “duty” shelter was full to normal capacity (8 guests) and on several nights an additional guest was admitted. No one had to be turned away in August.
The ACT Government is investing $5 million as seed funding to kick-start a long term commitment to our local charities and community sector to support their incredible work and also explore innovative solutions to meeting community needs.
